THE ARTIST:
Jim Shore drew inspiration for his figurines from
early American art. Specifically, he was an admirer and collector of
American folk art quilts. Inspired by the purity and innocence of their
designs, he honed his skills as a sculptor and painter of figurines. His
own company, Designs Americana, was successful, but partnering up with
Enesco enabled him to focus more on the artistic and creative elements
of his work. With Enesco, he created the Heartwood Creek line, which
brought him worldwide fame. Using designs from applique and
flat-perspective folk art, he created authentic new works of art dating
back generations. More success came to Jim Shore with his partnership
with Disney.
